Charo goes ProTour.

Charo goes ProTour.

Cuchi-cuchi comes to cycling.

While the bad news was the end of Barloworld, the good news is the team has a new sponsor, the aging singer, dancer and regular guest on 70’s TV series The Love Boat and Hollywood Square. The flamboyant Charo has announced she will take over sponsorship, renaming the team Charoworld.

Manager Claudio Corti was thrilled with the last minute rescue. “It’s not easy in this climate to keep a team going. I saw her in Vegas and backstage she told me how much she loved cycling. The rest is history,” said Corti.

For Charo, the new challenge fill her with excitement. “I have danced for kings, I learned flamenco guitar from Segovia, now I want a Tour de France winner,” said Charo.

With appearances on such shows as Jay Leno and RuPaul’s Drag Race, she’s used to winning big.

“Do not underestimate Charo,” said Corti. “I have already bought her a subscription to Cycle Sport magazine and she finished the Merckx biography I gave her. She has shown me sketches for the team jerseys and they were fantastic except for the purple feathers.”

The always provocative Charo has promised to sing hit songs from her old albums Cuchi-Cuchi and Ole Ole at the team’s first training camp. Plus her thrilling version of Rihanna’s Please Don’t Stop The Music. “I need a new stage, I see myself on the podium, with champagne and those cute skinny boys,” said Charo.

Twisted Spoke says forget a new ProTour license for Astana, give one to Team Charo. Can a Tour de France invitation be far behind?
